Why I became a therapist
I had an interest in mental health for many years whilst working in Psychiatry and Occupational Therapy and wanted to work with people in a more collaborative and empowering way to enable them to overcome their difficulties. I developed an interest in trauma focused work following a clinical placement as part of my CBT training and working for many years as a therapist with people who struggled to get the adequate support and therapy to work through and make sense of their experiences.
What I enjoy most about my work
I enjoy working with people to help them to become their own therapist and to develop the tools and strategies not only to support a reduction in symptoms as such, but also to enable them to live a valued and meaningful life
My interests outside of work
I enjoy travelling and being in nature, am passionate about also caring for the environment and regularly attend Mindful Forest Bathing Workshops for my own wellbeing and self-care as a therapist. I also have a keen interest in nature connection and mental health and being around animals and the benefits of the human animal bond in life generally.
