Autism assessment
If you are seeking an Autism assessment, you may be wondering if you are Autistic because of something you have seen online, on TV or something you’ve read which may reflect your own experiences.
It is common for many people to go through life without an Autism diagnosis and many people may learn to cope with life in their own way and remain self-diagnosed.
Getting an Autism assessment and diagnosis can help you and those around you such as your family and friends to understand why you experience difficulties, and it can ensure that you receive access to services and benefits that can support you going forwards.
Our Assessment services
Here at The Retreat Clinics, we provide a range of private services for clients who are self-funded including:
Screening for Autism Spectrum Disorder
Assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
These assessments can be carried out at our welcoming clinic in York or online.
Autism assessments are also available free of charge for adults who live in the following areas through the NHS:
NHS Vale of York CCG
NHS Harrogate and Rural District CCG
NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby CCG
NHS Scarborough and Ryedale CCG
Please note that if you are seeking an NHS-funded assessment, you must live within the areas above and have a referral made by a health or social care professional such as your GP. You cannot refer yourself to the North Yorkshire Autism Assessment Services.
For adults who have received an Autism diagnosis through the NHS funded assessment, we also provide a Wellbeing Hub, which includes one to one sessions with an Assistant Psychologist, for you to talk about ways you can improve your wellbeing such as healthy eating, weight loss, or stopping smoking.
Assessments for adults with a moderate to severe learning disability
We provide assessments for people aged 18 years of age and over who live in the areas above, have a moderate to severe learning disability, and who are suspected by their GP or Consultant Psychiatrist of having a disorder on the Autistic Spectrum.
We will work collaboratively with secondary learning disability and mental health services to provide training, and case management support for patients with complex needs requiring an assessment.
